Over 90 Taney pupils from 2nd, 3rd and 4th class signed up for junior hockey, which was held on Friday afternoons in Three Rock Rovers.
Due to covid, hockey was mixed this year with the pupils playing within their class pods until restrictions eased.
Sport is a wonderful way to make new friends from the other class groups and thankfully we could mix and encourage this towards the end of the season.
A panel of 20 coaches was used throughout the year. Many thanks to the hockey playing parents who coached when regular coach numbers were down. We had Irish senior, U21 and indoor internationals coaching, as well as our regular Taney coaches who are so reliable and passionate about Taney hockey.
The hockey improved so much throughout the year. The coaches regularly commented on the good behaviour and talent on display.
For the season finale we had a tournament for 80 children, split into 8 teams. It was super fun and a great way to finish the Taney hockey season! Well done everyone.
