Ms. Leahy’s Junior Infants are working on their fine motor skills by using their pincer fingers to stack Cheerios on a spaghetti straw stuck in a ball of play dough.
Junior Infants had a very exciting day on their school tour to Dublin Zoo last week. The weather was lovely and sunny and the children saw lots of animals on their day out.
6th class have been combining their Irish skills with P.E. at the moment. Firstly each group was given a fitness circuit in Irish. They had to figure out what to do and what equipment they needed. Then each group completed their own circuit as well as having a go on everyone else’s! Some groups also added in an extra “sixth class” challenge! The children then got the opportunity to teach the Junior Infants how to do each circuit and they completed them together!
Junior Infants and 6th class has some fun today in the sun! T hey were collecting eggs on an Easter Hunt!! Not all the eggs were edible so they had to be careful. Eggs weren’t the only things they found, also some ladybirds!
As a reward for completing such wonderful Seachtain na Gaeilge booklets, 6th class worked with their Junior Infant buddies teaching them how to create a leprechaun!
Junior Infants and Sixth Class had great fun reading together dressed up as our favourite book characters!
6th Class and Junior Infants joined together today to complete art activities based on the Chinese New Year, which as on Tuesday 5th February, as well as a Valentine’s Day love heart ♥♥!
Junior Infants and Sixth Class buddied up for some exciting station activities.
In the Sixth Class room they designed some most impressive buildings using marshmallows and sticks, then programmed robot mice to run through a tricky maze to get the delicious cheese!
In the Junior Infant room the children used both English and Gaeilge to converse which visiting the shop and the restaurant.
Mrs. Ruddock’s and Ms. Leahy’s Junior Infants have been learning where butter comes from in Science class – all the way from the cow to the plate!
They made their own butter from cream and then enjoyed their homemade butter on a cracker!
Friday 14th December – a very special day, a very special play. We performed our first ever nativity “Hey Ewe” in Taney Church. We all worked together and told this joyful story through words and songs. Every single child was a star and we all had a wonderful time!
Ms. Coe’s 6th class buddied up with Ms. Leahy’s Junior Infants and taught them a range of games.
The school is looking very colourful and everyone is excited about the School Fair this Saturday 20th October from 10am till 1pm! Come and see the scary monsters that Ms. Leahy’s class made…..they are on display on the corridor near the hall. We used bendy pipeclears, googly eyes and all sorts of accessories so that each monster looked completely different!
Today Junior Infants and 6th Class had their first Buddy Day! The 6th class children taught the Juniors how to play different games.
Junior Infants enjoyed lovely sunny weather when they visited Glenroe Farm this week. They saw lots of different farm animals, got to hold baby bunnies and play in the playground.
This week Junior Infants have enjoyed the sunshine, playing games outside. They are predicting and observing Science in Action…will it float or sink? And…..big news…..the chicks have hatched and they came to visit us – they are so gorgeous!
We all worked as a team to construct this amazing robot dog – aren’t we great!!
A pupil from Dr Brook’s class reads her own story called “Chaos at the Zoo” to the Junior Infants – a budding author!!

Mrs Martin’s sixth class buddied up with Miss Leahy’s junior infants to help them with their reading and sounds, and everyone had great fun!
The children took part in the Walk for Water on World Water Day this Thursday and they wore blue to school to symbolise water.
What would it be like to balance a container on your head and walk 6km a day to get water?
In Junior Infants the children balanced books on their heads while walking. In First Class the children tried balancing beanbags while walking in our yard. You have to be very careful and it takes a long time!! We needed to concentrate. We held out our hands to help our balance.
Junior Infants have really enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. They tried to eat noodles with chopsticks. A buddy from 6th class, who is an expert, came in to help them!!
Junior Infants are busy making pancakes before Half Term…lots of fun and well worth the wait….yum!
