Junior infants had great fun on World Book Day. We really enjoyed sharing stories with our 6th class buddies. We also listened to Julia Donaldson read “The Teeny Weeny Genie”, played a game of Name that Book, made book markers, enjoyed the school parade and added lots of links to our school paper chain!
We were so busy!!!
Junior infants have worked extremely hard this term. The children are now reading and writing.
They are also getting to know their numicon shapes by using play dough, fitting them onto base boards, making shapes, looking at the colours and shapes of the pieces etc.
They are all very excited about the Christmas holidays!
Mrs Duffy’s Junior Infants have had a very busy time during October. We all started learning our sounds and are really enjoying all the songs and stories that help us to remember them. We have been chatting all about harvest and the farm in Aistear. We loved our trip to Airfield Farmers’ Market and were very lucky with the weather. We had a visit from the Gardaí who taught us how to remember the emergency number 112 and also spoke to us about Hallowe’en safety. We did lots of Autumn artwork and made really cool “Leaf People”. We also did lots of Hallowe’en activities during our last week before half-term. We had fun discussing the different sizes of pumpkins and even tested how far they would roll. We all got dressed up for the last day – everyone looked amazing!

We are getting ready for writing and so we have been working hard on our fine motor skills. It is great fun too…we use play dough, tweezers, peg boards, threading cards and lots more. We even got to pop lots of bubble wrap!
We have also thoroughly enjoyed our Aistear sessions with the doctor’s surgery being a real hit!
