Junior assembly on Friday, 9th February was awash with excited anticipation as the children awaited the announcement of who had won the Credit Union Draw. Joan Sherlock Robertson, who manages the scheme, explained how all regular savers were included whether they lodged money each week or saved up in their piggy banks and lodged monthly. The random, computerised draw done at the Dundrum branch selected Toby Houchin from Ms. Riordan’s 2nd Class as the worthy winner, as he not only comes to CU each week but also lodges his sister’s money if she is in orchestra practice. Declan Connolly of Capital Credit Union presented the €150 voucher for Joe Daly Cycles, along with lights, a lock and other goodies, to a delighted Toby. Declan proceeded to say how happy he was to sponsor the draw and to see so many young savers across the school. There will be another similar draw towards the end of the school year and you can visit the Credit Union section for further information about how it works.

It’s nearly time for the eagerly awaited annual Table Quiz which will test the Taney knowledge pool while raising funds for our school. Teams of four will be quizzed on a variety of general knowledge and specific categories courtesy of our resident quiz maestro, Eoin Pearson.
As well as main prizes for the top four teams, we’ll be holding a raffle with about €1,000 worth of goodies including vouchers for various restaurants, supermarkets, beauticians/therapists and pharmacies, as well as hampers and wine.
We’re also fortunate to have an Irish rugby jersey signed by the current squad and will be selling tickets at €5 each on the night (there is a limited number of 100 tickets).
If you’d like to enter a team, please print off this registration form and drop it, along with €40 cash or cheque (payable to ‘Taney PTA’), into the office in a clearly marked envelope by Friday, 9th February.
