5th Class had a fantastic day out on Causey Farm. The weather was brilliant and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed jumping into the bog! We also met some adorable puppies and other animals. Take a look at our photos!
As you can see there are some Avengers: Infinity War inspired pieces here! 6th class created these art pieces manipulating chalk using rubbing techniques and rulers. Some added in detail using a fine liner pen!
Another busy Sport’s Week in Taney saw 179 pupils taking part in the annual Morton Cup and the sun was shining to top it off! We were lucky to have football star Abbie Clarke back to Taney to present the awards! A big thank you to Ms. Leahy for organising the event. Congratulations to everyone involved and thank you to Mrs. Martin and Ms. Hanbidge for taking the assembly!
In Ms. Hanbidge’s class we are learning about the Irish Famine. For independent homework over the last week the children produced famine ship reports and built their own ships. The criteria was that the boat needed to float, be made of recycled material and have a name. Here’s some pictures of the Duffy Dinghy, SS Potato, Shippy McShipface, The Death Ride, The Death Star and many more! Well done boys and girls!
Brave First Class practising their forward rolls and balancing!
Creative Creatures have been spotted….in the undergrowth of Taney!
Senior Infants have been enjoying the story The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. We did some illustrations and then made our very own lighthouses!
Welcome to Sports Day 2018!
Here’s all the info including the programme, various maps and other logistical details…….
Timing & Programme
The first races will take place at 11.00 a.m. sharp and we would recommend that you arrive by 10:40 a.m. to find your child(ren)’s class/teacher and settle everyone in. See the full Programme of Events 2018.
Sports Day is held on the soccer pitches close to the tennis courts and adjacent to the large playground in Marlay Park (see sitemap) and you can park in the car park off College Road (see area map). Please note that there have been a number of recent attempted break-ins so we advise you to take the necessary security precautions with your car.
What To Bring
Remember to bring some sun cream and old ties/dressing gown rope etc. for those in 3rd Class upwards (for the three-legged race) as well as extra refreshments and perhaps a post-race picnic for you and your family. Please do not bring your dogs.
In support of our Green Flag, we are very conscious of reducing and recycling our rubbish so we ask all parents and children to be responsible for their own rubbish and bring it home.
In the event of poor weather/ground conditions, the final decision to cancel the event will be taken by the School Principal by 7.30 a.m. that morning. Under these circumstances, please consult the newsflash section. In the event of a cancellation, the school day will go ahead as normal and Sports Day will take place on Thursday, 7th June.
